Are you looking to restore the beauty and protection of your surfaces by removing old or flaky sealers and applying a fresh, durable sealer? At Tile and Grout Pro, we offer an extensive stripping and sealing service that rejuvenates your surfaces and provides long-lasting results. Our experienced technicians are skilled in removing previous sealers, performing a thorough cleaning, and applying a high-quality sealer of your choice.
Here's an overview of our Enhanced Surface Stripping and Sealing service:
Surface Assessment and Consultation: Our technicians will assess the condition of your surfaces and determine the best approach for stripping and resealing. We'll discuss any specific concerns, such as previous sealers, dirt, mold, or efflorescence, and recommend the most suitable solution for your needs.
Stripping Process Overview: Depending on the type of sealant previously used, we offer two stripping methods: water-based and solvent stripping. Water-based stripping is non-toxic and always used before resealing. Solvent stripping, on the other hand, is only necessary in specific cases and involves additional costs and downtime. Our technicians are trained to handle solvent stripping safely and efficiently.
Surface Stripping and Restoration Clean: Our technicians will carefully remove the old sealer, ensuring minimal damage to the surface. We perform a professional restoration clean, thoroughly eliminating any remnants of previous sealers, dirt, or contaminants. This prepares the surface for the application of a new sealer.
Sealer Types: We offer two types of sealers to suit your specific requirements:
Penetrating Sealers: These sealers infiltrate the surface pores without altering texture or slipperiness, providing moisture resistance and stain protection. You can choose between an invisible transparent finish or a low sheen/wet look that slightly enhances the color.
Topical Sealers: Suitable for vinyl, linoleum, old slate, and terracotta flooring, these sealers create a film/coating on the surface. They are available in high gloss, satin sheen, or matte finishes and can help hide damage. However, please note that they may trap moisture and increase slipperiness when wet.
Sealer Options: We offer a range of high-quality sealers to meet your specific needs:
- DeepShield Transparent Penetrating Sealer (10-year lifetime) - Standard Option.Â
- DeepShield Colour Enhancing Penetrating Sealer (10-year lifetime) - Extra $15 per sqm.
- DeepShield Gold Transparent Penetrating Sealer (15-year lifetime) - Extra $5 per sqm.
- Topical Sealer with Gloss/Satin/Matte finish options (3-5 year lifetime) -Extra $5 per sqmÂ
Additional Charges:
- Wet areas (bathroom, toilet, laundry) are double the rate per m2 as they typically require more attention and time.
- Excess mould treatment with chlorine: From $5 extra per m2.
- Efflorescence and rust stains with a light acid wash or alternative treatment (depending on the stone): From $8 extra per m2.
- Grout haze removal with an acid wash: From $15 extra per m2.
- Factory wax removal for newly laid tiles: From $8 extra per m2.
- Carpet/vinyl Residue: From $10 per m2.
- Additional treatments may incur extra charges per m2.
Stripping solvent sealers involves extra costs, and the type of sealer chosen can affect the price per square meter. Our technicians will provide transparent pricing based on your specific requirements.
Preparation and Instructions: To ensure a smooth process, we kindly request that you clear all areas to be cleaned and move furniture away before our technicians arrive. We will protect skirting boards, doors, and adjacent areas with masking tape for added precaution.
Important Information:
- Sealed surfaces require a minimum of 4 hours to dry before being walked on.
- Avoid wetting sealed surfaces for 24 hours after sealing, especially for outdoor areas.
- Our cleaning process may not restore heavily damaged, aged, or heavily stained tiles to their original condition. Additional services may be required to address such issues.
- Allow the sealer to fully cure before testing or cleaning.
- Solvent stripping can cause damage to adjacent paint and finishes, requiring subsequent repairs. Expect the property to be vacant for a couple of days due to the time required for the process and the presence of toxic odors. Solvent stripping is only recommended when absolutely necessary.
Health and Safety Precautions: When stripping solvent sealers, proper ventilation is crucial, and it is advisable to vacate the property for a couple of days due to the toxic odors produced during the process. Our technicians prioritize your safety and will take all necessary precautions, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). We encourage you to discuss any concerns or specific requirements with our technicians before the commencement of the job.
Post-Service Care: After the service is completed, we recommend waiting a minimum of 4 hours before walking on the sealed surfaces. Refrain from wetting the surfaces for 24 hours, especially for outdoor areas. Allow the sealer to fully cure before testing or cleaning. If any adjacent paint or finishes were damaged during the stripping process, we advise arranging for necessary repairs.
